The Company
Harts Systems Ltd has been designing, implementing, marketing and
supporting advanced computer systems for over twenty-five years. HSL
was incorporated in 1982 for the sole purpose of developing computer
systems on the newly invented microcomputers.
The first system undertaken was a secondary school administration,
with an emphasis on the scheduling requirement. The key thought at
that time was,
'If we did it on a 32k Honeywell machine, surely we can do it on a 48k Apple II+'
We did it. And produced the first, maybe the only, complete large
system to work in hundreds of distant locations on such a tiny machine. In
the process we developed our own operating system, our own programming and
development techniques. We learned efficiency, speed, reliability, and service.
But above all, we learned how to design a system that could be managed by people
unskilled in computers, and who are too busy to learn.
These lessons were learned in a laboratory that cannot be reproduced
today. But these lessons are embedded in every application that we undertake
in this world of Windows, web, telecommunications, graphics, and terabytes.
Today we measure our success by the satisfaction of our thousands of users.
The People
The staff of HSL has an average of twenty one years experience in
systems design and customer service. Excepting the CFO, everybody in the
company from the most recent employee down to the president is a professional
systems developer. All of us are involved in customer service on a daily basis.
No employee is directly involved with our customers until they have two
years experience with our products. On the other hand, if you have an unusual
problem with a system you might be passed to the original author of that system
for resolution.
We developed our systems, we support our systems, and we market our systems.
We are PROUD of our systems
